Analysis of Dynamic Deformation Response of Closely Spaced Square Footings on Geogrid-Reinforced Sand under Cyclic Loading

چکیده
In order to obtain the optimal spacing of closely spaced footings under cyclic dynamic loading, model tests were carried out on unreinforced and reinforced sand foundations. The influence center point (S) bearing capacity foundation load is discussed. test results show following: (1) peak largest when S/B = 2.0 (B width footing), ultimate 20% higher than that foundation. (2) vertical soil pressure at different positions with ratios (S/B) lower foundation, buried depths (‘1-3’, ‘2-3’, ‘3-3’ positions) are smaller below (‘1-2’, ‘2-2’, ‘3-2’ positions). (3) When 2.0, strain geogrid acceleration smallest, indicating has little transient change this spacing. From aspects design engineering economic benefits, it suggested between should be arranged according two times footing (S/B 2.0).

Numerical Study of Cyclic Behavior of Shallow Foundations on Sand Reinforced with Geogrid and Grid-Anchor
When the foundations of structures under cyclic loading with amplitudes less than their permissible load, the concern exists often for the amount of uniform and non-uniform settlement of such structures. Storage tank foundations with numerous filling and discharging and railways ballast course under repeating transportation loads are examples of such conditions. This paper deals with the effect...
متن کاملEccentrically loaded strip foundation on geogrid-reinforced sand
Results are presented for laboratory model tests conducted to determine the ultimate bearing capacity of an eccentrically loaded strip foundation supported by geogridreinforced sand. Only one type of sand at one relative density of compaction and one type of geogrid were used for the tests. The depth of the foundation was varied from zero to B (width of foundation). Based on the laboratory test...
متن کاملBehaviour of Reinforced Fibrous Concrete Beams under Reversed Cyclic Loading
When earthquakes occur, energy released by the earthquake gets induced into the structure as ground motion and this energy has to be dissipated for safety reasons. To release seismic energy, the structure should damage in such a way that on one hand, collapse of structure should not occur and on the other hand, after the earthquake, damage should be economically feasible to repair. To avoid the...
متن کاملInfluence of Sudden Column Loss on Dynamic Response of Steel Moment Frames under Blast Loading
Modeling buildings response to blast and subsequent progressive collapse interested more and more researchers during the past two decades. Due to the threat from extreme loading, efforts have been made to develop methods of structural analysis and design. In this paper, progressive collapse capacity of steel moment frames was first investigated using alternate load path method, then a nonlinear...
متن کاملExperimental Evaluation of Performance Criteria for Reinforced Concrete Beams under Cyclic Loading
To assess the performance criteria of the reinforced-concrete, five-storey residential buildings common in Iran, an
experimental study in the structural laboratory of the University of Tehran has been conducted. The test program includes cyclic and monotonic load tests of six beams that represent three-to-five storey buildings with rigid frame structures. Using definitions given in FEMA-356...
